Belarusian Amkodor weighing options to enter Afghan market

MINSK, 15 August (BelTA) – The Belarusian mechanical engineering company Amkodor is weighing options to enter the Afghanistan market. The statement was made by Leonid Pinchuk, Head of Amkodor’s CIS and Non-CIS Sales Office, as Chief Executive of Afghanistan Abdullah Abdullah visited the company on 15 August, BelTA has learned.

Amkodor has no trade representatives in Afghanistan, but is working on it. A dealership was established in neighboring Tajikistan in 2017. Several ways of entering the Afghan market are under consideration, including via the Tajik dealership or by selling the vehicles made by the assembly enterprise in Uzbekistan.

The assembly enterprise in Tashkent, Uzbekistan now makes five Amkodor models. There are plans to expand the product range every year. As many as 44 kits have already been assembled into vehicles. The assembly enterprise is designed to satisfy demand in Central Asia — Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, and other countries. It is cheaper to make vehicles in Uzbekistan and sell them to neighboring countries from the logistics point of view. Since the vehicles are shipped to Uzbekistan as assembly kits, tax preferences are available.

During the tour of OAO Amkodor Chief Executive of Afghanistan Abdullah Abdullah was made familiar with the product range the company makes.

Amkodor is intent on advancing relations with distant-arc countries, including Asian ones. Amkodor vehicles are sold taking into account customer’s requirements. The Belarusian holding company comprises 29 enterprises that make vehicles and machines for agribusiness, road construction and maintenance, utilities industry, forestry industry, manufacturing, and logistics.
