Belarus, Yaroslavl Oblast of Russia plan to start cooperating in pharmaceutics

MINSK, 17 December (BelTA) - Belarus and Yaroslavl Oblast of Russia plan to start cooperating in pharmaceutics, Governor of the Russian region Sergei Yastrebov told reporters before a meeting with Belarus’ Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko, BelTA has learned.

"The new theme for us is pharmaceutics, which is very promising for Russia and Belarus. We are ready to supply our products, start a joint production of drugs in Belarus, and help develop new technologies,” said Sergei Yastrebov.

Another promising area is road construction. “We are ready to cooperate with Belarusian design organizations that are ready to compete with Russian companies. There is a system of tenders which Belarusian organizations may take advantage of,” the Governor said.

In general, Sergei Yastrebov stated there is a wide range of areas where Belarus and Yaroslavl Oblast can cooperate and build up ties. "We should not stop, we need to work harder," he concluded.

In January-October 2015 the trade between Belarus and Yaroslavl Oblast amounted to $132.6 million, down 46.6% from the same period last year, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Government.

Belarus’ major exports to Yaroslavl Oblast are twisted wire made of iron or steel, ethylene polymers, integrated synthetic fibers, plastics packaging, polycarboxylic acids, footwear, and internal combustion engines.

The program of cooperation between the governments of Belarus and Yaroslavl Oblast for 2014-2016 is in progress. A working group on cooperation has been set up, and held two meetings.

A joint venture to assemble, sell and maintain Bobruiskagromash flax balers and semi-trailers was set up at OAO Belrusagrotekhnika in Yaroslavl Oblast.

Supplies of the equipment for sorting, storing and packaging of potatoes made by the experimental plant of the research center for mechanization of agriculture at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus were launched in 2015.
