MINSK, 3 May (BelTA) – Belarus is in negotiations with Nigeria discussing the possibility of implementing joint projects, which envisage maintenance and modernization of oil refineries and oil industry installations in Nigeria. The matter was discussed as Ambassador of Belarus to Nigeria Vyacheslav Bril met with Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Maikanti Baru, representatives of the Belarusian embassy told BelTA.
The meeting also touched upon the advancement of bilateral cooperation in ensuring the safety of oil pipelines, liquidation of consequences of oil spills and the restoration of polluted territories. Apart from that, the conversation touched upon cooperation in fight against oil thefts, prevention and detection of oil pipeline breakage, coil tubing technologies, personnel training to prevent emergencies at oil pipelines. The sides agreed to continue contacts in a routine manner.
The meeting was organized taking into account Belarus’ interest in promoting the export of goods and services in the oil and gas industry as well as the topicality of diversifying oil import to Belarus.
