Belarus, Vladimir Oblast to sign import substitution agreements

MINSK, 15 May (BelTA) – Governor of Russia’s Vladimir Oblast Aleksandr Avdeyev has met with Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mikhail Myatlikov to discuss priority areas of cooperation between the Russian region and Belarus, BelTA has learned.
Cooperation between Belarus and Russia is now of a practical nature, said Aleksandr Avdeyev. “In the current geopolitical conditions when we found ourselves under sanctions, it is vitally important to deepen cooperation and promote import substitution. This is a comprehensive matter. We have recently carried out a business mission where we agreed to sign three agreements with Belarus. For example, if foreign suppliers discontinue cooperation with Belarusian enterprises, companies from Vladimir Oblast can provide them with similar products, which will keep them running and help them remain competitive. This also works in the opposite direction. Vladimir Oblast enterprises had a contract with a Czech engine manufacturer, and now we are consistently replacing them with similar engines made in Minsk. Such business events and cooperation ties stand us in good stead as we are trying to grow our trade,” the governor said.
According to him, after the signing of the agreement between the chambers of commerce and industry of Belarus and Vladimir Oblast, several more cooperation agreements between enterprises are to be penned. “These contracts will have an impact on economic indicators of Belarus and Vladimir Oblast,” Aleksandr Avdeyev is sure.
According to the governor, cooperation can be built in other areas as well. “For example, the refrigerator manufacturer Atlant cooperated with the German chemical-industrial company Henkel. This is no longer possible due to sanctions. Our company Adhesive can offer absolutely the same chemical products, sealants and a number of other products that can completely replace the goods made by the Henkel company. And these are some of the most obvious examples of how we can cooperate,” he noted.
Other areas should also remain in focus. “We have received an invitation to participate in the biids of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange, where companies can offer any batch of goods for any purpose. This will be a good opportunity for our companies to promote their goods,” added Aleksandr Avdeyev.
