Belarus views Chile gateway to Latin America markets

MINSK, 28 April (BelTA) – The Chilean retail network can become a conduit for Belarusian goods to the markets of Latin America. These matters were discussed in a meeting between the Belarusian delegation and representatives of Chile’s leading associations ProChile, Sofofa and Salmonchile, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Chilean side informed the Belarusian delegation about the ways Belarusian companies and organizations can take part in a number of infrastructure projects in Chile, and use the Chilean retail network to promote Belarusian goods to the Latin America markets.

Ruslan Yesin, Deputy Director of the Foreign Economic Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also met with Pablo Urria Hering, Director of Bilateral Economic Affairs at the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs. “The parties exchanged views on the status and prospects of bilateral economic cooperation. With a view to intensifying contacts between the ministries of foreign affairs of Belarus and Chile, including organizations within their system (the National Center for Marketing and Price Studies and ProChile), the parties agreed to start working on a document that will establish a legal framework governing economic cooperation,” the press service informed.

The parties also noted the need to harness the potential of administrative-territorial units of the two states to develop partnerships. The Chilean side was handed over an invitation from Minsk Mayor Andrei Shorets to visit the capital of Belarus to strengthen trade and cooperation relations.
