Belarus, Vietnam to start establishing joint dairy company soon

MINSK, 2 April (BelTA) – Belarus and Vietnam will soon start the foundation of a joint venture to make dairy products, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian government.

A Belarusian delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko made an official visit to Vietnam from 28 to 30 March.

“The Belarusian delegation visited the manufacturing site of MAZ Asia, a truck assembly plant in Hung Yen Province. Vladimir Semashko was briefed on the progress in the implementation of a project to set up an assembly plant for MAZ trucks in Vietnam. He held talks with Nguyen Van Phong, Chairman of the Hung Yen Province People's Committee. The sides sealed several deals to deliver Belarusian vehicles to Vietnam, including MAZ knock-down kits. They also reached common ground on the establishment of a joint venture to manufacture dairy products in Hung Yen Province. The project will be set in motion soon,” the press service said.

During the visit, Vladimir Semashko also had a meeting with Vietnam President Tran Dai Quang to discuss bilateral cooperation in all fields of mutual interest. Tran Dai Quang spoke highly of his visit to Belarus in June 2017 and stressed the importance of the agreements reached back then. In his words, Belarus and Vietnam also need to maintain the existing political and economic relations at a high level.

The Belarusian deputy prime minister had constructive and meaningful talks with Nguyen Xuan Phuc. The sides exchanged opinion on the mechanisms of further cooperation in delivering MAZ vehicles to Vietnam under the existing intergovernmental protocol on the production of motor vehicles in Vietnam.

Nguyen Xuan Phuc welcomed the establishment of Belarus-Vietnam joint companies in the two countries. The Vietnamese official stressed the need to redouble the efforts to boost Belarus-Vietnam trade.

During his Vietnam visit, Vladimir Semashko also conducted negotiations with Nguyen Duc Chung, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee. The sides discussed the terms of further supplies of Belarusian buses to the capital of Vietnam. Hanoi also showed interest in importing a wide range of Belarus-made vehicles, dairy products, and vehicles, and also in setting up joint ventures to make these products in Vietnam.
