MINSK, 9 August (BelTA) - Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Valery Mitskevich met with Vu Hai Ha, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly of Vietnam, on the sidelines of the 44th General Session of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) in Jakarta, Indonesia, BelTA learned from the House of Representatives.
Despite the geographical remoteness, Belarus pays priority attention to the development of the entire spectrum of relations with Vietnam, which it sees as a reliable and friendly partner in Southeast Asia, Valery Mitskevich said during the meeting.
Hope was expressed for an even more active expansion of economic cooperation between Belarus and Vietnam, especially in such traditional areas of bilateral cooperation as mechanical engineering, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, education, science and tourism.
The parties also discussed the prospects for further strengthening inter-parliamentary relations, exchanging visits, intensifying the activities of friendship groups and continuing constructive cooperation in international organizations.
