Belarus-Vietnam partnership in oil extraction suggested

MINSK, 27 June (BelTA) – Belarus is interested in cooperation with Vietnam in the area of oil extraction. Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov made the statement as he met with Vietnam President Tran Dai Quang on 27 June, BelTA has learned.

Speaking about prospects of Belarus-Vietnam cooperation, Andrei Kobyakov mentioned that the potential of the Belarusian oil extraction company Belorusneft had not been tapped yet. “With your support we could implement an important joint project to introduce Belarusian innovative methods for intensifying oil recovery in Vietnamese oil fields,” stated Andrei Kobyakov.

Cooperation in potash industry also looks promising for Belarus and Vietnam. “Potash fertilizers are the main driver of mutual trade between our countries. We are ready to sell more of them until Vietnam’s needs are satisfied, including via long-term mutually beneficial contracts,” stressed Andrei Kobyakov.

Belarus is also ready to participate in the implementation of government programs in Vietnam as well as infrastructure projects and other ones, including the construction of metro and underground walkways.

Agribusiness is another area fit for mutually beneficial partnership. “We’ve backed the proposal of Vietnamese partners in favor of making dairy products in Vietnam using Belarusian raw materials. Belarus has cutting-edge technologies and highly qualified personnel for the project,” noted Andrei Kobyakov.

Apart from that, Belarus is interested in expanding cooperation with Vietnam in science and technology. Belarusian and Vietnamese scientists already implement joint projects together, including the development of unmanned aerial vehicle systems and scientific instrumentation. There are also promising projects in the area of microbiology, new materials, and healthcare. Belarus is also ready to train top-qualification scientific personnel for Vietnam, arrange mutual exchange programs in the areas of interest of Vietnam’s choosing.

The prime minister concluded: “Belarus and Vietnam are reliable partners. We have good prospects ahead of us.”
