MINSK, 23 April (BelTA) – Belarus' Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Parkhomchik met with Arkhangelsk Oblast Governor Alexander Tsybulsky to discuss cooperation prospects on 22 April, BelTA has learned.
According to the deputy prime minister, Belarus is ready to provide a wide range of equipment for the Russian region. In particular, passenger vehicles. “You have already tried our buses. The feedback is good. We are ready to keep it up and supply more passenger vehicles. We are expanding the range of these products. They run on different types of fuel. We have thoroughly tested our buses running on liquefied gas in St. Petersburg. Using such equipment has a good economic effect,” said Piotr Parkhomchik.
He noted that the world is increasingly switching to electric transport. Belarus does not lag behind global producers. “First of all, we test and check everything in our country, including in Minsk. You may have noticed that a large number of Belarusian electric vehicles are used right here, in the capital city. We have approved a major program on electric transport, including passenger transport. We are working on this together with Rosatom,” said the deputy prime minister.
Belarus produces many special-purpose vehicles, including utility equipment. “We can supply our chassis, hand over documentation for component parts that can be produced in some city in Arkhangelsk Oblast, which will create additional jobs,” he noted.
Piotr Parkhomchik also spoke about elevator production. “We are the largest elevator manufacturer in the post-Soviet space, we produce about 14,000 elevators. We are also the absolute leaders in replacing elevators in Russia. We are ready to do this in your region,” he emphasized.
Belarus is also ready to offer its portable diesel generator sets manufactured by Minsk Motor Plant. They can generate electricity for small district centers in the event of natural disasters. In addition, Belarus can offer pumping stations to pump out water during flooding.
The participants of the meeting also discussed the supply of agricultural machinery and quarry equipment.
Piotr Parkhomchik raised the problem of forest fires, noting that Belarus has developed a unique wildfire response system that allows it to respond to fires at the moment they erupt. Belarus is ready to offer Arkhangelsk Oblast a wide range of fire engines, as well as forest planting material.
In addition, the parties discussed the possibility of providing construction services and building facilities like social infrastructure on a turnkey basis. They touched upon cooperation in the agricultural sector, food supplies, education, science, sports and tourism. “The tourist flow between Belarus and Arkhangelsk Oblast is expected to increase significantly thanks to launching direct flights,” Piotr Parkhomchik added.
