Belarus, Uzbekistan to make medications together

MINSK, 20 December (BelTA) – Belarus and Uzbekistan intend to set up a joint venture to make medications, BelTA learned from Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Rusy after the fifth session of the Belarus-Uzbekistan intergovernmental cooperation commission on 20 December.

The official said: “As for cooperation in pharmaceutics, we’ve already mastered the production of 166 kinds of medications. Now we face a serious task: setting up an enterprise in Uzbekistan to make our pharmaceutical products to treat hepatitis, oncological diseases in order to work not only on the Uzbek market but markets of neighboring countries, too.”

The fifth session of the Belarus-Uzbekistan intergovernmental cooperation commission took place in Minsk on 20 December. The sides discussed the state and prospects of bilateral trade and economic cooperation, cooperation in the production sector, manufacturing cooperation, and sales of equipment, machines, and vehicles. Close attention was paid to cooperation in agriculture, light industry, food industry, civil engineering, healthcare, to deeper cooperation between regions and business circles of Belarus and Uzbekistan. A schedule of events (a roadmap) was signed during the session with a view to intensifying the relations in trade, economy, culture, and humanitarian affairs in 2018. A memorandum of understanding between the Belarusian Industry Ministry and the electric equipment manufacturer Uzeltehsanoat was signed as well.
