MINSK, 21 September (BelTA) – Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei and U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Michael Carpenter met in New York to discuss the ways of establishing cooperation between the two counties in the military sphere, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Another theme for discussion was the development of direct dialogue between the military agencies of Belarus and the United States amid the increasing tension in the Eastern European region.
According to the ministry, as part of the visit to New York Vladimir Makei attended the opening ceremony of the general debate “Sustainable Development Goals: a Universal Push to Transform Our World” of the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly on 20 September.
During protocol events on behalf of the UN, the United States and the European Union Vladimir Makei held a number of bilateral meetings with European counterparts and representatives of other countries.
