MINSK, 15 December (BelTA) - Belarus and the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.) are considering the possibility of establishing joint ventures in the field of mechanical engineering, Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and industry (BCCI) Vladimir Ulakhovich told reporters before the second session of the Belarusian-U.A.E. Business Council, BelTA has learned.
“The matter is about joint ventures in the United Arab Emirates, which will manufacture products not only for the U.A.E. and the Gulf countries but also Northern Africa, South-East Asia This is a great one subregion, where we can create joint production facilities and promote joint products to the markets where they are in demand,” Vladimir Ulakhovich said.
According to him, Belarus and the U.A.E. are discussing the cooperation at least in three main areas: engineering, food products, petrochemicals. “Arab states import about 80% of food products. Some of our companies have Halal certificates. Fro example, Bellakt products are in demand; the U.A.E. is interested to have baby food in its clinics,” Vladimir Ulakhovich said.
He noted that recently almost all Gulf countries have been trying to diversify their economic profile. “In this sense, Belarus is an important and interesting partner because its economy has the industrial profile. The country can offer its partnership,” he said.
Attending the second meeting of the Belarus-U.A.E. Business Council are over 40 Belarusian companies and about 20 companies from the U.A.E.
