ASHGABAT, 30 March (BelTA) – Belarus and Turkmenistan will intensify cooperation in international transportation, Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow said at the meeting with mass media representatives after the talks with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko on 30 March, BelTA has learned.
“A serious opportunity for the enhancement of cooperation in international transportation emerges today. Both countries create a solid network of transit infrastructure. Taking into account this fact and the benefits of our geographic location, we have agreed to use our potentials,” Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow said.
In his words, the countries agreed to deepen relations in trade, including in the fuel and energy sector, chemical industry, agriculture, machine building, textile and light industries.
The President of Turkmenistan also stressed that the project to build the Garlyk mining and processing factory has become a flagship and symbol of the Belarusian-Turkmen ties.
Alexander Lukashenko, in turn, acknowledged that the project was not easy. However, the countries managed to overcome all difficulties and complete it together. “I am convinced that the experience of joint work which we have accumulated during the construction of this factory will help us continue our work in this country,” the Belarusian head of state said.
