Belarus, Turkey to sign agreement on cooperation in science and technology

MINSK, 10 November (BelTA) – The Governments of Belarus and Turkey plan to sign an agreement on cooperation in science and technology, BelTA learned from Chairman of the State Science and Technology Committee Alexander Shumilin.

The preparations to sign the agreements are conducted in line with the instructions of the Council of Ministers of Belarus, the State Science and Technology Committee and the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“The State Science and Technology Committee drafted an intergovernmental agreement with a view to establishing and further developing sci-tech cooperation between Belarus and Turkey in the scientific, sci-tech and innovative areas,” said Alexander Shumilin.

The document will promote long-term cooperation between scientific and production organizations of the two countries.

It is expected that the countries will cooperate on 14 priority areas, including energy, agro-industrial, industrial, construction, medical, chemical technologies, nano and biotechnologies, aerospace technologies, water management and laser technologies.

“The parties agreed to set up a joint commission on cooperation in science and technology. The commission will comprise representatives of the competent bodies,” the Chairman of the State Science and Technology Committee.

He added that the State Science and Technology Committee is expected to showcase the best Belarusian sci-tech novelties during the Belarusian-Turkish business forum.
