MINSK, 11 April (BelTA) - Belarus has agreed on large supplies of machinery to Nicaragua following the visit of a delegation led by Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Aleksandr Yegorov to that country, BelTA has learned.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nicaragua hosted a final meeting with the Belarusian delegation and signed the documents.

Laureano Facundo Ortega Murillo, Nicaragua's Presidential Adviser on Investment, Trade and International Cooperation, expressed gratitude to the both heads of state for the opportunity to receive a representative Belarusian delegation. He noted that the work carried out resulted in the signing of contracts and memorandums on the supply of Belarusian machinery - road, utilities, construction, fire-fighting machinery, as well as trucks (a total of 790 units) and agricultural equipment. On Nicaragua’s part, the documents were signed by the ministries of agriculture, transportation, construction, interior, municipalities, army and police. Nicaragua also expects to receive a credit line of about $100 million from Belarus to finance the supplies.

“We thank the Belarusian government for supporting Nicaragua. This is a historic moment that will bring our peoples closer together. We will attract Belarusian companies for further work in Nicaragua and the region,” Laureano Facundo Ortega Murillo emphasized.

Aleksandr Yegorov thanked the Nicaraguan representatives for the warm welcome. “We have held several days of talks, as a result of which our preliminary agreements were significantly expanded. Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko always says that the main thing in work is its result. We see this result in the signed documents. And we always go the extra mile. There will be more contracts. We will set up assembly plants of Belarusian machinery in Nicaragua,” he added.
