MINSK, 14 April (BelTA) – Belarus plans to actively seek markets for halal products, Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister Leonid Zayats told media on 14 April, BelTA has learned.
This year Belarus will expand its presence on the markets of Pakistan, Vietnam, the United States, the countries of Middle East and Central Asia. In late May 2016 the country will display its exposition at a large-scale agricultural exhibition in Iran – this market is also considered by Belarus as promising. “The geography is wide, and we will work on these markets. There is a place for our products. We should complete, enter these markets more aggressively as they are of big interest for us,” Leonid Zayats added.
The minister also talked about Belarus’ accession to the World Trade Organization. In his words, this will open wide opportunities for Belarusian supplies to new markets.
According to Leonid Zayats, four Belarusian meat packing plants, several dairies and poultry farms have halal food certification.
