Belarus to partake in IDEX defense expo in Abu Dhabi

MINSK, 19 February (BelTA) – Companies representing Belarus’ defense industry will take part in the International Defence Exhibition and Conference IDEX 2015 that will be held in Abu Dhabi on 22-26 February under the patronage of President of the UAE His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, BelTA learned from Vladimir Lavrenyuk, representative of the State Defense Industries Committee of Belarus for information and public relations.

The expo will showcase the most advanced solutions in the defense industry. Twelve pavilions occupying a total of 133,000 square meters will demonstrate the latest in weapons, ammunition and hardware. Over 1,000 companies from 52 countries are expected to take part in the expo. These are nearly all the world’s manufacturers of defense products.

The official delegation of the State Defense Industries Committee of Belarus will be led by Chairman of the Committee Sergei Gurulev. The Belarusian delegation will take advantage of the opportunity to hold meetings and talks, establish new contacts and promote cooperation between defense companies of Belarus and the United Arab Emirates. “The participation in the IDEX 2015 expo will help give a boost to the Belarus-UAE collaboration in the defense sector, facilitate business contacts with foreign organizations, and help promote our products on foreign markets,” the State Defense Industries Committee of Belarus noted.

Belarusian defense companies have been taking part in the IDEX expo since 1999. Today the products of Peleng and Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant (fire control systems for armored vehicles and special-purpose heavy-duty vehicles) are well known in the capital of the United Arab Emirates.
