MINSK, 28 November (BelTA) - Belarus will organize a national expo in Argentina in 2019, head of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vladimir Ulakhovich told the media ahead of the seminar “Latin America. Export Prospects”, BelTA has learned.
“Last year we ran a successful exhibition of Belarusian products in Havana. Next year we will organize a national expo in Argentina, during on one of the great universal trade fairs there,” Vladimir Ulakhovich said.
He highlighted the great potential for cooperation with the Latin America countries. In January-August the trade of Belarus with those states reached $1 billion, an increase of 25% over the same period last year. Belarusian potash fertilizers, BelAZ rock haulers, and MTZ tractors already have a presence there. This market has been growing dynamically. According to the forecasts by financial institutions, in the next 20 years, the number of consumers in the region will reach 800 million people. Latin America’s import portfolio exceeded $1 trillion last year. The marketing analysis indicates the region’s potential demand for electrical and petrochemical products (polymers, plastics), measuring instruments, and power equipment. These countries are also interested in the supply of medicines. The agrarian sector of Latin America may be interested in Belarusian fertilizers and plant growing and animal husbandry technologies. “We have analyzed the import portfolio of the largest countries of South America and found out that they import furniture and refrigerators from Europe. We hope there is room for our products there, too,” the BelCCI chairman said.
Speaking about the development of the Latin American market, Vladimir Ulakhovich said that the countries of the region and Belarus share similar views on the development of international relations based on equal rights, open and understandable relations in the economic sector, and independence of the states.
The seminar “Latin American Countries. Export Prospects” is underway in the National Library. Attending the seminar are representatives of about 100 Belarusian enterprises, diplomatic and consular offices of Argentina, Cuba, Mexico, and Chile. Companies will receive information necessary for entering the region’s market. The program will also include presentations of Latin America countries. The seminar is another event of the BelCCI School of Export project.
