MINSK, 11 July (BelTA) – Belarus intends to increase the export of services to the United States of America up to $500 million by the end of 2017, BelTA learned from Charge d'Affaires of Belarus to the USA Pavel Shidlovsky on 11 July.
According to the source, Belarus-USA cooperation is on the rise, including export and import. Belarusian export demonstrated outstripping growth in early 2017. “The figures are small for now. As far as merchandise is concerned, in January-May we sold $80 million, 2.5 times up from the same period of last year. If we talk about services, Belarusian services sell really well in the USA. Those are primarily IT services by companies residing in the Hi-Tech Park. We can raise the export of services to $500 million by the end of the year,” said Pavel Shidlovsky.
According to the diplomat, Belarus-USA relations have been on the mend for the last several years. No breakthroughs have been secured, yet the restoration process proceeds steadily. “We expect that taking into account the improved political relations we will enjoy broader opportunities for organizing Belarusian export, for exporting more Belarusian products to the American market. We are trying to work as hard as possible by selling products of the petrochemical industry, woodworking industry, and [the Belarusian state food industry concern] Belgospishcheprom,” added the diplomat.
