MINSK, 25 September (BelTA) – Belarus will play host to the IAEA seminar on licensing nuclear power plants on 28 September-2 October, BelTA learnt from the communications and PR office of the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department of the Emergencies Ministry (Gosatomnadzor).
“The seminar is of high importance for Belarus due to the future licensing of the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant and the development of cooperation with the IAEA in the area of nuclear and radiation safety,” the Gosatomnadzor said.
Attending the event will be specialists from 12 countries: Austria, Albania, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Macedonia, Pakistan, Poland, Romania, Turkey, Ukraine. The seminar will highlight licensing methods at different stages of the NPP construction, including the site selection, the construction phase, the use and decommissioning of the plant.
The participants of the seminar will visit the construction site of the Belarusian NPP and the NPP information center on 2 October.
