Belarus to expand cooperation in tourism industry with SCO states in 2023

MINSK, 27 December (BelTA) – Belarus plans to step up cooperation in the tourism industry with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states in 2023, Chairman of the Board of the Belarusian Union of the Tourism Industry Filipp Guly said at a press conference.

Speaking about plans of the Belarusian Union of the Tourism Industry for the new year, Filipp Guly noted that now they are focusing on contacts with third countries.

“Indeed, we are seeking closer cooperation with the SCO countries, including India and China. In addition to that, Uzbekistan is also a target market for us. Tourists from Tashkent are now expanding their horizons, weekend tours have become popular among them. Having well-developed tourist infrastructure Minsk can successfully compete with other countries of the organization and feature in travel plans of more tourists,” said Filipp Guly.

In addition, he welcomed the decision to extend the visa waiver for people from Latvia, Lithuania and Poland.

“It is good news for us, as this will help us maintain business contacts with travel operators from these countries and encourage more arrivals from there. We hope that in the future we will see more foreign tourists, including from these countries,” concluded Filipp Guly.
