Belarus to decide on competitive goods, services for delivery to Europe before yearend
MINSK, 3 October (BelTA) – Before the end of 2017 Belarus will compile lists of competitive goods and services for the delivery to the European market, Belarus’ Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov said at the meeting of the Presidium of the Council of Ministers on 3 October to discuss the measures and results in increasing and diversifying the country's export of goods and services, BelTA has learned.
In January-July 2017 the export to the EU countries went up by 15.2% as against the same period last year to total $4.2 billion. Andrei Kobyakov said that Belarus mainly exports oil and oil products, woodworking goods, and potash fertilizers to Europe. “The number one goal is to increase the export of high-tech products that meet all the technical, environmental and other requirements of the European market,” the head of government said.
The lists of competitive goods and services for the delivery to the European market will help address the issue. The lists will be formed before the end of 2017. Such lists will serve as a guideline for the national sectors and regions, and also for Belarusian foreign institutions in the EU states. “We need to add value-added products to the export of raw commodities to the EU markets,” the PM said.
