MINSK, 22 December (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Tajikistan Oleg Ivanov visited the country’s Sughd Oblast, BelTA learned from the website of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Ambassador met with Sughd Oblast Governor Abdurahmon Qodiri and Khujand Mayor Sharif Sharifzoda. During the meeting the sides discussed the state and prospects of trade, economic, and humanitarian cooperation between Belarus and Sughd Oblast at the regional level.
The sides spoke highly of the level of bilateral cooperation in 2016. They noted there is interest in expanding the cooperation in accordance with the existing agreements signed with Minsk Oblast and Vitebsk Oblast.
Oleg Ivanov also met with representatives of the business circles and the banking industry of Tajikistan. The meetings focused on ways to increase Belarusian export to the region. Close attention was paid to deliveries of Belarusian mechanical engineering industry products, products made by the petrochemical industry, light industry, and food industry, including on international leasing terms.
Apart from that, the sides discussed problems involved in the operation of Belarusian distribution chains in Sughd Oblast, including aftersales service of Belarusian machines and vehicles, the availability of spare parts, the training of technical specialists and sales specialists.
Work plans for the year 2017 were discussed.
