MOSCOW, 18 October (BelTA) – Belarus and Panama could implement a project to supply and assemble Belarusian equipment in Panama, Belarusian Ambassador to Russia Dmitry Krutoi came forward with this proposal as he met with Rolando E. Barrow, Ambassador of Panama to Russia with concurrent accreditation in Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian diplomatic mission.
“The parties exchanged views on efforts to expand Belarus-Panama cooperation in all areas. The ambassador of Belarus suggested supplying a wide range of Belarusian agricultural machinery, passenger vehicles and cargo equipment to Panama. This can be direct deliveries and creation of an assembly plant in Panama to produce Belarusian vehicles for various sectors of Panama’s economy. According to him, Belarus expects that such cooperation can help Belarusian goods enter other markets of Latin America and the Caribbean,” the press service said.
Belarus is also interested in importing tropical fruits from Panama. These products can be supplied not only to the Belarusian market, but also to other EAEU member states through Belarus. Dmitry Krutoi believes that the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture of Panama can arrange the exchange of visits of business delegations of the two countries, which will help boost trade and economic contacts.
“According to Rolando Barrow, the leadership of the Republic of Panama attaches great importance to the development of relations with the Republic of Belarus. He spoke highly of the Belarus-Latin America forum that took place at the Business and Cultural Complex of the Belarusian Embassy in Moscow. During this forum diplomats of the Latin American states learned about the export potential of our country. Of particular interest to Panama are electric buses, trucks, tractors of various modifications and other types of agricultural equipment produced in Belarus. In this regard, the ambassador of Panama supports the proposal of the Belarusian side to promote Belarusian products to the market of Panama and the entire region,” the press service of the diplomatic mission informed.
The ambassador of Panama invited Belarus to participate in EXPOCOMER, a multisectoral trade exhibition to be held in Panama in March 2023.
“The parties agreed to work out proposals to intensify bilateral trade, including through free economic zones, and to make the most of the advantageous geographical position of Belarus and Panama to promote bilateral cooperation,” the press service added.
