MINSK, 23 January (BelTA) - Ways to intensify cooperation in energy and geological exploration between Belarus and Sudan are high on the agenda of a meeting of the Belarus-Sudan joint cooperation commission which is taking place in Sudan. The Belarusian part of the commission is headed by Energy Minister Vladimir Potupchik, spokeswoman for the Belarusian Energy Ministry Zhanna Zenkevich told BelTA.
The meeting is set to discuss the possible ways of enhancing cooperation in industry, agriculture, and construction. The parties are set to formulate a coordinated position on the further action plan to implement joint projects in various fields. The agreements will be enshrined in the protocol of the meeting. There are plans to sign a memorandum of understanding in the field of industrial cooperation between the Belarusian Industry Ministry and the Government of the State of Khartoum of Sudan.
On behalf of Belarus the meeting is attended by representatives of the Energy Ministry, the Industry Ministry, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Agriculture and Food Ministry, the Architecture and Construction Ministry, and also Belneftekhim, Belresursy, Belenergo and Beltopgas companies, other stakeholders.
Vladimir Potupchik is scheduled to meet with the Minister of Oil and Gas, the Minister of Water Resources, Irrigation and Electricity, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sudan and the Khartoum State Governor. The delegation will attend the opening of the Belarusian exposition at the International Fair of Khartoum.
