MINSK, 7 September (BelTA) – Belarusian farms have begun harvesting grain corn, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.
As of 7 September, over 7,085,400 tonnes of grain was cropped. This included 6,111,200 tonnes of grain and leguminous crops and over 974,200 tonnes of rapeseed.
Grain corn harvesting is in progress in three regions of the country: Brest Oblast, Minsk Oblast and Gomel Oblast. Some 1,260 hectares of the areas under corn have been cleared and a total of 9,430 tonnes of corn has been threshed, with yields at 75 centners per hectare. Some 3,768,800 tonnes of green mass has been harvested.
In addition, some 15,600 tonnes of buckwheat and 10,190 tonnes of millet were threshed.
The flax straw harvest has exceeded 72,600 tonnes.
Cereal and legume straws have been harvested from 73% of the area.
Belarusian agricultural workers are harvesting potatoes. Some 76,900 tonnes of potatoes have already been removed from fields. The yield is 362.3 centners per hectare.
Some 3,358,500 tonnes of corn for silage have been cropped so far.
Sugar beet harvesting is underway in Belarus. Some 163,800 tonnes of sugar beets have already been removed, the yield is 449.8 centners per hectare.
