MINSK, 29 September (BelTA) – The business ties between Belarusian and Slovenian companies have become stronger, Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alena Kupchyna said after the fifth session of the Belarus-Slovenia joint commission for trade, economic, scientific, and technical cooperation, BelTA has learned.
Alena Kupchyna co-chairs the commission on behalf of Belarus. The Slovenian side of the commission is headed by Director-General of the Directorate for Economic Diplomacy at the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Stanislav Rascan.
Alena Kupchyna said that the participants of the fifth session of the joint commission signed a protocol outlining the areas of bilateral cooperation. For example, the parties agreed to develop cooperation in such promising fields as agriculture, power engineering, industry, science, technology, education, and tourism. She pointed out that the trade between Belarus and Slovenia has been consistently growing over the past five years. However, the year 2015 has witnessed a decline in the bilateral trade due to a number of unfavorable external factors. Alena Kupchyna believes that the work of the commission will help strengthen the ties between Belarus and Slovenia.
She expressed hope that the two countries will manage to reverse these negative trends by the end of 2015 and step up the bilateral trade, including with the help of new joint projects in power engineering and construction. Alena Kupchyna also noted that the joint declaration on the peaceful use of nuclear energy is aimed at boosting the cooperation between Belarus and Slovenia.
