MINSK, 6 April (BelTA) – Belarus has signed contracts worth more than $100 million to supply dairy products to China, Belarus’ Agriculture and Food Minister Leonid Zayats told the media on 6 April, BelTA has learned.
“We have signed contracts worth over $100 million on dairy supplies. Two meat processing plants, Veles-Meat and Mogilev meat-packing plant, have been certified for meat supplies, and the first batch of meat has already been delivered to China,” Leonid Zayats said. In April 2018 a group of specialists from the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China is set to visit Belarus for the certification of poultry farms with a view to supplying products to the Chinese market.
It is not easy to enter the Chinese market, the minister said. To coordinate the work, Belarus and China are setting up a joint venture in Shanghai, which will operate the supplies of Belarusian products to the Chinese market. “We will try here, from Belarus, through one operator to supply dairy products, which the Chinese consumer needs. There is a lot of work there. It is an interesting and very promising area. China consumes millions of tons of products we can produce,” Leonid Zayats said.
Savushkin Product, Babushkina Krynka and other Belarsuian enterprises have already been operating in China. The Belarusian baby food producer Bellakt is entering the market. The operator will be able to provide them with additional support.
