Belarus seeks to start exporting machinery to India

MINSK, 6 August (BelTA) – Belarus intends to launch the export of equipment, machines, and vehicles, in particular dump trucks of the Belarusian automobile engineering company BelAZ and electrobuses, to India, Chairman of the Council of the Republic Mikhail Myasnikovich said as he met with Belarus' honorary consuls in Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka, BelTA has learned.

“We expect an increase in trade with India in 2019,” Mikhail Myasnikovich told the honorary councils in Mumbai and Kolkata. In his words, while a sufficiently large number of Belarusian-Indian projects are being implemented, Belarus expects vigorous sales of mechanical engineering products on the Indian market.

The two countries have completed the first stage of the project to rehabilitate oil wells in India. “From what I am told, our Indian partners have hailed this stage of the joint project as successful,” Mikhail Myasnikovich noted.

He also touched upon matters of cooperation in pharmaceutics. The acquisition of finished dosage forms and medical substances was mentioned as well as the establishment of joint ventures to make medications.

Mikhail Myasnikovich said that Belarus has established good relations with Bangladesh. “We have executed a major contract on supplying over $50 million worth of road-building machinery. Currently, we are carrying out a contract worth $17 million and are negotiating another one worth $100 million. All of them deal with machinery,” he said. Belarus has opened the relevant after-sales service centers and spare parts warehouses and has launched training courses for mechanics and repairmen.

Mikhail Myasnikovich also expressed confidence that Belarus will cultivate mutually beneficial relations with Sri Lanka and Nepal.

Honorary Consul of Belarus in Bangladesh Aniruddha Kumar Roy noted that promising areas of Belarus-Bangladesh cooperation include agriculture and its mechanization as well as education.
