DOHA, 29 October (BelTA) – Belarus hopes to take an active part in Qatar’s infrastructure projects, Belarus’ Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates with concurrent accreditation to the State of Qatar Roman Golovchenko told media, BelTA has learned.
“Belarus shows big interest in infrastructure projects in Qatar. Construction projects are underway across the whole Doha, mainly due to the FIFA World Cup which Qatar will host in 2022. The country is building football arenas and associated infrastructure. Belarusian companies are interested in the projects of the kind,” the diplomat said.
He noted that there are many difficulties, both organizational and legal ones, on the way towards such cooperation but there are already the first fruits of this work. For example, the Belarusian drilling company Delta signed a joint venture agreement with a Qatari partner to carry out construction work in Qatar. “To engage in any work in the construction industry in Qatar, it is necessary to set up a joint venture with a local partner. This is a legal requirement,” Ambassador Roman Golovchenko said.
