Belarus, Russia’s Tula Oblast to work out cooperation roadmap

TULA, 24 November (BelTA) – Belarus and Tula Oblast will prepare a cooperation roadmap. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Igor Petrishenko made the statement as he summed up results of the visit of the Belarusian delegation to Tula on 24 November, BelTA has learned.

The Ambassador said: “We are satisfied with the meeting with Tula Oblast Governor Alexei Dyumin. We discussed the entire spectrum of relations. We agreed that next year the governor will visit Belarus. By that time we will prepare a roadmap that will stipulate measures and projects in all areas of our cooperation for two years.”

During the negotiations the sides noted the need to step up manufacturing cooperation. In particular, Tula Oblast is interested in buying Belarusian compact tractors with mounted tools for its utility industry. Igor Petrishenko said that a joint venture to make such vehicles may be set up in Tula Oblast in the future.

There is a great potential for cooperation in civil engineering. Belarus’ possible participation in renewing the lift equipment in the region was also mentioned.

According to the diplomat, close attention was paid to traditional cooperation in supplies of Belarusian agricultural machines. At present Belarus-made tractors make up more than half of all the tractors in Tula Oblast. The Russian region also buys a lot of Belarusian grain harvesters. The Belarusian side takes an active part in agricultural exhibitions in Tula Oblast, too.

Apart from that, the Governor backed the idea of expanding twin city ties between the cities of Belarus and Tula Oblast. So far Tula has been twinned with Mogilev while Bobruisk has been twinned with Novomoskovsk.
