MOSCOW, 25 September (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia’s Oryol Oblast intend to intensify industrial cooperation, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian embassy in Russia following a meeting between Belarusian Ambassador to Russia Vladimir Semashko and Oryol Oblast Governor Andrei Klychkov on 25 September.

“The parties discussed economic cooperation between Belarus and Oryol Oblast,” the press service noted. “They noted that enhancing industrial cooperation between enterprises of Belarus and Oryol Oblast is one of priority areas of work, also thanks to the reform of the solid waste management industry which is underway in Russia,” the press service added.

The parties agreed to develop joint proposals for the Union State program on agriculture, discussed supplies of breeding stock and cooperation in developing pedigree breeding. Participation of Belarusian construction companies in projects to build social facilities in Russia’s Oryol Oblast was also mentioned as important.

“Belarus has been a reliable partner of Oryol Oblast for many years,” Andrei Klychkov said. “Moreover, in recent years, Belarus has strengthened its position as one of our key foreign partners. In January-June 2019, trade between Belarus and Oryol Oblast increased by 9.2% year-on-year and totaled $33.1 million,” he added.
