Belarus, Russia’s Novosibirsk Oblast closely cooperate in machine building industry

Belarus, Russia’s Novosibirsk Oblast closely cooperate in machine building industry

MINSK, 11 October (BelTA) - First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Belcoopsoyuz Aleksandr Skrundevsky spoke about Belarus’ cooperation with Russia’s Novosibirsk Oblast in machine building during the 6th session of the Business Cooperation Council of Belarus and Novosibirsk Oblast of the Russian Federation, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus prioritizes the development of relations with the Russian Federation. Novosibirsk Oblast is among the leading Russian regions in terms of trade with our country. In 2022 the bilateral trade with Novosibirsk Oblast increased by more than 40% to reach almost $500 million. Belarusian exports grew by 14% and amounted to $300 million,” Aleksandr Skrundevsky said.

According to him, the foreign trade structure has undergone a significant change towards diversification of commodity lineup. The Belarusian exports have expanded by a number of new commodity positions and supplies of some products, previously exported in insignificant volumes, have increased manifold. These included special-purpose vehicles, machinery for semiconductor production, power plant engines, machine tools for metal processing, and others.

“In line with the efforts to strengthen industrial cooperation and replace imports from unfriendly countries by Belarusian counterparties, the region has significantly increased the purchase of electric current control equipment, valves for pipelines and other products,”the first deputy chairman of Belcoopsoyuz added.

According to him, in January-August 2023 the trade between Belarus and Novosibirsk Oblast totaled $248 million and slightly decreased compared to the same period of 2022. In this regard, the task of today's meeting was to change this trend and outline new areas of cooperation.

“An agreement has been reached with Novosibirsk Oblast to start assembling a new low-floor model of trams in late 2023. BelAZ has been successfully cooperating with SibElectroPrivod plant in the use of Novosibirsk traction electric units on haul trucks with carrying capacity from 90 to 240 tonnes. The MTZ-Siberia trading house is ready to meet the needs in tractor trailing and attachments not only in Novosibirsk Oblast, but also in the whole Siberian Federal District of the Russian Federation. This year Belarus decided to set up a single center for the sale of Belarusian machinery in the MTZ-Siberia trading house. The supplies of MAZ machinery and Bobruiskagromash agricultural equipment have increased. The region has also established an assembly production of potato planters and potato diggers Lidselmash,” Aleksandr Skrundevsky said.

The parties continue implementing all bilateral agreements, including those related to deepening scientific cooperation between the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, supplies of science-intensive import-substituting products, organization of Belarusian fairs in Novosibirsk, and others. Among other things, the parties expanded cooperation in microelectronics and machine-tool construction in 2023.

“I hope at today's meeting we will give a new impetus to our business relations, and increase our trade volumes,” the first deputy chairman of Belcoopsoyuz said.
