Belarus, Russia’s Mordovia set to develop comprehensive cooperation

MINSK, 19 October (BelTA) – There is a number of areas in which Belarus and Russia’s Mordovia are going to develop cooperation, Head of Mordovia Artyom Zdunov said ahead of the meeting of the working group on cooperation between Belarus and Russia’s Mordovia on 18 October, BelTA has learned.

“Our task is for Belarus to increase its sales, expanding maintenance and quality guarantee services. For this purpose, we can localize part of the production in Mordovia. We have MordovAvtoMash, where we could produce machinery on the basis of MAZ chassis for both our needs and the needs of our neighbors - Nizhny Novgorod, Ryazan, Ulyanovsk and Penza. We are also interested in cooperation with Belarus’ MTZ. We are discussing specific projects, both at the level of directors and also chief designers and engineers,” Artyom Zdunov said.

According to him, a lot of specialists and directors from Belarus have visited Mordovia over the past two years. Many of them were in Saransk and got familiar with the city's enterprises. A delegation of Mordovia is currently paying a visit to Belarus to learn about the country’s industrial sector.

In his words, the parties discussed cooperation in the areas such as construction materials, auto components and other areas.

“We talked over in detail the possibility of producing medicines from blood plasma and using RDF-fuel. There are a lot of joint projects, and our working schedule is not finished yet,” Artyom Zdunov said.

He also shared plans to open a direct flight between Belarus and Mordovia.

“We need to take children from our region on trips to Belarus to show them places of military glory. It would also be nice for Belarusian children to visit the sights of Mordovia. We conduct a lot of patriotic activities: create military-patriotic camps, develop the cadet movement and can exchange our best practices in this area. In general, this flight will be a good tourist route,” the head of Mordovia said.

He also drew attention to the importance of maintaining cultural exchange and mutual visits. “We will be happy to welcome a delegation from Belarus, and invite Belarusians to our festivals,” Artyom Zdunov said.
