MOSCOW, 17 June (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Igor Petrishenko met with Leningrad Oblast Governor Alexander Drozdenko on the sidelines of the 20th Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum on 17 June, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Embassy in Russia.
The parties discussed matters related to the drafting of the program for trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation between the governments of Belarus and Russia’s Leningrad Oblast for 2016-2018.
“Igor Petrishenko noted that the downturn in mutual trade that started in 2015 continued into 2016. The ambassador praised the work of the joint commission for the development of cooperation between Belarus and Leningrad Oblast, the Belarusian part of which is headed by First Deputy Prime Minister Vasily Matyushevsky. Igor Petrishenko believes that regular meetings of the commission help make prompt decisions on current issues relating to cooperation and coordinate the activities of government bodies, enterprises and organizations in the implementation of the signed agreements,” the press service said.
Igor Petrishenko and Alexander Drozdenko also discussed possible dates for the seventh meeting of the joint commission to be held in Leningrad Oblast.
