MINSK, 21 June (BelTA) – The first session of the working group on cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and Russia’s Republic of Kalmykia took place in Minsk. The session was chaired by Transport and Communications Minister Aleksei Avramenko on the Belarusian side, BelTA has learned.
The session took place as part of a three-day visit of Kalmykia’s delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Naran Kyukeyev. Representatives of ministries and government agencies of the two republics also took part in it.
A broad range of matters concerning trade and economic cooperation in the sphere of agriculture, production sector, and culture was on the agenda of the session.
The sides discussed matters of current interest concerning ways to increase mutual trade in agricultural products, the sharing of the best practices in animal husbandry, production of meat and dairy products, the growing of horticultural crops. The matter of increasing deliveries of Belarusian construction machines, municipal vehicles, and agricultural machines to Kalmykia was raised.
The sides expressed a strong mutual interest in advancing cooperation in the sphere of transport. In particular, Naran Kyukeyev suggested considering the possibility of organizing air service between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Kalmykia.
Priority directions of future cooperation were identified as a result of the session. The sides confirmed readiness for advancing manufacturing cooperation ties, for implementing joint scientific, innovative, and cultural projects, and for adopting effective mechanisms to support and stimulate trade and economic relations.
All the ministries and government agencies concerned were instructed to provide comprehensive assistance to establishing and developing mutually beneficial contacts between enterprises of Belarus and Kalmykia.
