MINSK, 20 September (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia’s Kaliningrad Oblast will team up to train specialist for WorldSkills. The matter was discussed at a meeting between Belarus Education Minister Igor Karpenko and acting Deputy Chairman of the Government of Kaliningrad Oblast Ilya Barinov, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Education Ministry.
Igor Karpenko emphasized the need to develop resource centers in the institutions of secondary vocational training. The minister voiced a proposal to share experience of setting up platforms that operate in Kaliningrad Oblast. “A joint decision has been taken to train specialists for the national and world championships among young professionals WorldSkills,” the press service said.
Igor Karpenko and Ilya Barinov discussed inter-university cooperation and the enhancement of the academic mobility of students, the scientific and teaching staff. The parties also talked over the cooperation between the institutions of the vocation education system, including training and retraining of the personnel.
On 19 September the education ministries of Belarus and Kaliningrad Oblast signed a memorandum that envisages cooperation to support talented children, an exchange of educational practices, and the implementation of joint projects. “Belarus is interested in developing cooperation in cadet education, international Bachelor’s program schools, training personnel for the agro-industrial and engineering sectors, new forms to organize school timetables. Kaliningrad Oblast demonstrates an innovative approach in these issues and we are ready to adopt it in Belarus,” said Igor Karpenko.
Ilya Barinov stressed for his part that Belarus is a strategic partner of Kaliningrad Oblast in exchanging experience in the social sector. He emphasized the readiness of the two sides to develop cooperation and discuss new projects and programs for students and the academic personnel.
The visit of the delegation of the Belarusian Education Ministry to Kaliningrad Oblast will last through 20 September. The Belarusian delegation is expected to visit a number of educational organizations in the region.
