Belarus, Russia’s Chelyabinsk Oblast to bolster ties in industry, agriculture, construction

MOSCOW, 17 March (BelTA) - Belarus and Russia’s Chelyabinsk Oblast intend to bolster ties in industry, agriculture, construction, passenger transport, road construction and pharmaceutics, the press service of the Belarusian Embassy in Russia told BelTA following a meeting between Ambassador Igor Petrishenko and a delegation of Chelyabinsk Oblast headed by Governor Boris Dubrovsky in Moscow on 17 March.

The central theme of the meeting was the status of implementation of the action plan to develop trade, economic, science and cultural cooperation between the Governments of Belarus and Chelyabinsk Oblast in 2015-2017, the progress in the implementation of the agreements reached during the visit of the delegation headed by Chelyabinsk Oblast Governor to Belarus in April 2015.

“It was noted that Belarus and Chelyabinsk Oblast of Russia have significant potential for the development of trade and economic relations in the field of industrial cooperation, agriculture, construction, passenger transport, road construction and pharmaceutics. The parties discussed the ways of bolstering ties in these areas, and implementation of joint projects. The Belarusian side invited representatives of the Russian region to examine in detail the list of products that Belarus can offer for enterprises of Chelyabinsk Oblast,” the press service informed.

Igor Petrishenko and Boris Dubrovsky confirmed mutual interest in furthering cooperation and making use of all available opportunities to expand mutually beneficial trade, economic and cultural ties.

In 2015 the trade between Belarus and Chelyabinsk Oblast totaled $202.2 million. Belarus’ major exports were tires, trucks, parts for automobiles and tractors, refrigerators, freezers and refrigerating equipment, road-building machinery.
