Belarus-Russia trade up 34% in 2021

MINSK, 4 March (BelTA) - The mutual trade between Russia and Belarus increased by 34% in 2021, Press Secretary of the Industry Ministry Oleg Slepchenko told BelTA following the meeting between Belarusian Industry Minister Piotr Parkhomchik and Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov in Moscow.

The parties discussed current trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. “In 2021, the mutual trade grew by 34% to reach $38.4 billion. The export of Russian industrial products increased by 42.7% in annual terms, supplies of Belarusian goods showed growth of 24%. Belarus is traditionally one of the five major trading partners of Russia and ranks first among the CIS countries. The Russian share in Belarus’ foreign trade was 49% last year. Russia’s key exports to Belarus include technological goods: machinery, equipment and vehicles, products of chemical industry,” the press secretary said.

The parties discussed preparations for the upcoming exhibition of engineering enterprises. The event will mark the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Russia and Belarus and will run from 31 March to 14 April at the All-Russian Exibihition Center VDNH. A number of Russian and Belarusian companies will present their products there.

Belarus is also getting ready for the exhibition “Innoprom. Central Asia” which is due in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on 25-27 April 2022.
