MOSCOW, 18 June (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia have established a defense technology joint venture named as REB Technology that will focus on modernizing electronic warfare systems, the press service of the Russian radioelectronic technology concern KRET told BelTA.
The Belarusian founder is AGAT – Control Systems while the Russian founder is NPO Kvant.
According to the press service, the new enterprise will have to perform research and development work to modernize and repair electronic warfare systems. It will also focus on production, maintenance, shipment of components, aggregates, materials, spare parts, special software, and special tools used in manufacturing, repairing, maintaining the electronic warfare systems for the benefit of the Belarusian and Russian armies.
According to the source, Belarusian electronic warfare systems were initially based on technologies of Soviet and Russian make. This is why Belarus contacted the Russian manufacturer KRET as the country made plans to modernize its electronic warfare systems. The procedure for modernizing four ground-based noise interference stations SPN-4 by 2017 has already been determined.
