MINSK, 20 March (BelTA) – Belarus intends to raise revenues from international tourism up to $3 billion by 2035. The target is specified by the draft national strategy on tourism development in Belarus till 2035. The document has been submitted for a public debate, BelTA has learned.

One of the strategic goals the draft document is designed to achieve is to enhance the role of the national tourism industry on the world market and increase Belarus’ share in the global tourism revenues from 0.04% in 2016 to 0.1% in 2035.

Belarus also intends to become a top 100 sustainable tourism destination and a top 50 country on the Travel & Tourism Competiveness Index.

The economic tasks include raising the annual total volume of the export of international tourism and passenger transportation services from $1.2 billion to $3 billion, diversifying directions of incoming tourism, raising the share of tourist arrivals from OECD countries up to 40%, and raising revenues per foreign tourist from $71 to $250.

The plans include the establishment of special tourism and recreation parks with a favorable investment climate and the launch of a universal digital platform to consolidate business processes relating to visa formalities, insurance, registration and travel-related transactions in Belarus.

The public debate has been organized by the Sports and Tourism Ministry.

Remarks and proposals can be posted in a special thread on the Legal Forum of Belarus through 30 March.
