Belarus receives $263m from Russia as part of bilateral oil arrangement

MOGILEV, 12 October (BelTA) – Belarus has received $263 million from Russia as part of a deal that covers exports of Russian oil to Belarus, Belarus Deputy Prime Minister Igor Lyashenko told reporters, PRIME has learned.

“The money came yesterday. It was not paid since July. We received $263 million,” Igor Lyashenko told reporters in Mogilev. He added that “this mechanism does not formalize specific figures and depends on the cost of an oil barrel.”

Igor Lyashenko also said that Moscow and Minsk will begin consultations on the compensation for the losses incurred by the Belarusian budget from the tax maneuver on 1 November. “The negotiations on the compensation for the tax maneuver are in progress. We will meet to talk this matter over. A schedule of meetings has been drawn up,” said Igor Lyashenko.
