Belarus ready to offer petrochemical, agricultural products to South Korea

Belarus ready to offer petrochemical, agricultural products to South Korea
Andrei Chernetsky

MINSK, 28 July (BelTA) – Belarus is ready to offer its petrochemical and agricultural products to South Korea, BelTA learned from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Korea Andrei Chernetsky on the sidelines of a seminar, which gathered heads of Belarusian diplomatic missions.

Andrei Chernetsky said: “We do have something to offer to South Korea. It is primarily products made by agricultural and petrochemical enterprises.”

As an example he mentioned that Bereza Meat Processing Plant had recently signed a serious contract with a Korean partner. It is the second experience like that for the Belarusian company.

The economic situation in South Korea is not very good at the moment. However, export to Belarus is rising amid the overall slump.

“But it will probably be hypocritical to say that Belarus-Korea relations are now at the level they were 5-10 years ago. It is a consequence of the complicated events going on in the world. Our task is to preserve the potential that we had,” the ambassador noted.

Andrei Chernetsky noted that economy is the top priority in Belarus’ cooperation with South Korea but the embassy does its best to also popularize Belarusian culture in the Republic of Korea.

“Speaking about Korea’s interest in Belarus, I should say that the interest is there. But for South Korea Belarus is terra incognita. Koreans don’t really know much about the country and we are doing everything to fill in the gap,” he stressed.
