MINSK, 11 August (BelTA) – Belarus is ready to start supplying SKD kits of MTZ tractors to Pakistan, Belarus’ Premier Andrei Kobyakov said as he met with his Pakistan counterpart Nawaz Sharif on 11 August, BelTA has learned.
Setting up plants to assemble Belarusian equipment in Pakistan and also joint dairy companies that would use Belarusian technology and raw materials is one of the promising areas in bilateral cooperation, the Belarusian head of government believes. “As for MTZ tractors, we are ready to switch from the supplies of fully-assembled tractors to the delivery of SKD kits,” said Andrei Kobyakov.
According to the Prime Minister, Belarus will need a reliable partner in Pakistan that enjoys the government’s trust and support.
“In turn, we are ready to consider issues related to setting up joint companies in Belarus to manufacture textile products from Pakistani raw materials. We are ready to provide a production site at the textile company in Baranovichi. It is one of the biggest textile manufacturers in the post-Soviet space,” Andrei Kobyakov said.
The Belarusian Premier also suggested setting up a joint venture to make carpets from the Pakistani raw materials at the Brest Carpet Factory. Andrei Kobyakov is confident that these products will be popular in the Eurasian Economic Union market.
For these projects to gain full force, Andrei Kobyakov proposed the Pakistan counterpart to consider signing an intergovernmental agreement on industrial and sci-tech cooperation. "This agreement and the lists of goods which can be delivered without charging VAT and customs duties, will benefit the two sides," he said.
