MINSK, 6 June (BelTA) - Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko met with Chairman of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan Talant Mamytov to discuss the prospects for Belarusian-Kyrgyz cooperation, both bilateral ties and also interaction in international parliamentary organizations, primarily the CSTO PA, BelTA learned from the press service of the House of Representatives.

"New challenges and threats require greater consolidation. This applies to all countries participating in the CSTO PA and for all formats of interaction. It is important that all members of our association are committed to the principles of good-neighborly relations, mutual trust, indivisibility of security," the chairman of the House of Representatives said.

The parties also discussed the ways of building up trade and economic cooperation.

In the context of sanctions by the collective West, improving the mechanisms of bilateral trade within the framework of the EAEU is becoming an increasingly important task, Vladimir Andreichenko emphasized.

In 2021, the trade between Belarus and Kyrgyzstan amounted to more than $97 million having increased by 41.3% year-on-year. Exports exceeded $86 million (up by 43.2%), imports approached $11 million (up by 28%).

The speaker urged to step up trade by expanding commodity range and implementing new projects. The Belarusian side is ready to increase the supply of agricultural, passenger and utility vehicles and is interested in importing more vegetables and fruits, nuts and other products from Kyrgyzstan that are in demand in Belarus, he said. To contribute to the growth of trade we need to work together on the logistics of cargo transportation, he added.
