MINSK, 18 November (BelTA) – Belarus is ready to boost the supplies of dairy products to Alexandria Governorate in Egypt, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Egypt Sergei Terentyev paid a working visit to the city of Alexandria on 16-17 November. Sergei Terentyev met with Governor of Alexandria Mohamed El-Sherif to discuss trade and economic cooperation in agriculture and food security, personnel training and high technologies. The ambassador confirmed the readiness of Belarusian enterprises to participate in the mechanization of agriculture in this Egyptian region, increase the supply of Belarusian dairy products and continue purchasing Egyptian vegetables and fruit, including those produced in Alexandria Governorate,” the press service said.
The parties reached an agreement to invite Belarusian tractor and agricultural machinery manufacturers to take part in tenders held at the governorate level. The parties emphasized the need to intensify cooperation in tourism and agreed to promote the increase of tourist flow between Belarus and Egypt.
As part of the activities to develop cooperation with the League of Arab States, Sergei Terentyev visited the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport. This institution, headquartered in Alexandria, is a specialized organization under the League of Arab States, and also a leading regional university for training specialists in logistics, maritime affairs, engineering, computer technology and pharmaceutics. The Belarusian ambassador suggested establishing cooperation between this educational institution and the Belarusian State University.
The parties also considered the possibilities of implementing bilateral educational projects in artificial intelligence, software development, information protection, biotechnology and physics.
