MINSK, 4 May (BelTA) – Belarus is ready to implement logistics projects together with DP World Corporation (UAE). Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko made the relevant statement as he met with DP World Chairman of the Board and CEO Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem on 4 May, BelTA has learned.
The head of state underlined the importance of the visit of one of the world’s most influential businessmen to Belarus. “I think the arrival of the man, who knows virtually everything there is to know about logistics, in Minsk is not accidental,” noted the President.
“You understand perfectly well that, located in the center of Europe, particularly at present, Belarus is an important transit link between the West and the East, the North and the South. I would very much like you to see your interest in Belarus during the visit. It would be very important to match Belarus’ interests and those of your huge company,” said Alexander Lukashenko. “We have a lot of ideas, you have a lot of capabilities. I would like this concurrence to result in new companies, including in Belarus, and new jobs. It would be a good sign for our people at this time.” The President assured that he is ready to discuss any matters with Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem. The head of state noted that if the UAE corporation decided to invest in Belarus, it would be granted the best favorable conditions.
The negotiations focused on investments and the possibility of implementing joint projects.
DP World Corporation is part of the holding company Dubai World, which is owned by the government of the Emirate of Dubai. The corporation owns 77 cargo terminals in 40 countries.
