Belarus president supports business decriminalization proposals

MINSK, 28 March (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has supported business decriminalization proposals from the entrepreneurial community, Chairman of the Business Promotion Council, head of the Council of Ministers Office Alexander Turchin, who met with the head of state on 27 March, said at the international conference Fiscal Policy For Sustainable Economic Development on 28 March, BelTA informs.

According to Alexander Turchin, the proposals mainly concern the articles of the Criminal Code regarding illegal business practices and pseudo-entrepreneurship. The proposals were approved by the president.

“There was a separate block of issues [at the meeting with the president] on the further decriminalization of business. Today, the Business Promotion Council is expected to post on its website a draft wording of Decree No.488 [Concerning measures to prevent illegal minimization of tax obligations] so that the business community could assess and make suggestions. The head of state was presented with proposals on two articles of the Criminal Code that regard illegal business activities and pseudo-entrepreneurship. The approaches were approved by the president. Now we need to make concrete proposals and work on them together with our counterparts from the relevant ministries and departments,” said Alexander Turchin.

He also told the representatives of the business community about other matters discussed at the recent meeting with the Belarusian president.
