MINSK, 10 March (BelTA) – It is necessary to reduce costs and simplify the permit system. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko gave the relevant instructions during the government conference held on 10 March to discuss the performance of the law enforcement system in 2016 and the optimization of the law enforcement and court systems, BelTA has learned.
“It is necessary to try and make the permit system simpler and cheaper. I don’t want government agencies to try to earn their living by selling product certificates or licenses. Corruption and other abuses of office originate from that. Such practices slow down economic development,” said the President.
Alexander Lukashenko underlined the importance of work in this area using the Emergencies Ministry as an example. The President mentioned it is necessary to come up with new approaches to oversight and control activities. “Fire prevention inspectors should not scare people, particularly self-employed businessmen. We’ve talked about it and I think that things started moving after these talks,” said the head of state.
