MINSK, 15 October (BelTA) – Head of the Belarus President Administration Dmitry Krutoi met with Governor of Russia’s Khabarovsk Territory Dmitry Demeshin on 15 October, BelTA has learned.
According to Dmitry Krutoi, Khabarovsk Territory is a unique region implementing large-scale projects, including the ones in aircraft construction and logistics. These include, for example, the production of the Superjet passenger airplane, the construction of the Elga seaport and the Pacific Railway.
“In the Far East, Khabarovsk Territory is definitely one of the most interesting regions, an obvious point of growth. You have a lot of initiatives, and a very good resource base,” the head of the Belarus President Administration said.
The main topic of bilateral relations is the development of cooperation in industry and protection of the common market from unfair competition on the part of foreign producers. According to Dmitry Krutoi, Belarus and Russia have already made a number of decisions regarding the matter, and have been implementing joint projects. However, there is still lot to be done, including at the legislative level.
“There have been very good supplies of passenger vehicles. They included both buses from the Minsk plant, and trolleybuses from our joint site in Ufa (Gorozhanin is, in fact, our joint brand). You have big infrastructure plans for Khabarovsk. We can supply Belarusian trolleybuses or buses,” the head of the Belarus President Administration said.
Dmitry Krutoi also congratulated Dmitry Demeshin on his convincing victory in the recent elections for governor of Khabarovsk Territory. “The authorities’ consistent policy, implementation of infrastructure, economic projects and your results speak for themselves,” he said.
Dmitry Demeshin thanked Belarusian officials for the warm welcome of the delegation of Khabarovsk Territory and assistance in ensuring an eventful program for the visit. “We have discussed a lot in respect to the industrial sector. I find very interetsing the approaches Belarus uses. These are the approaches (for example, import substitution), which we are also implementing,” the head of the Russian region said.
According to the Khabarovsk Territory governor, the leaders of the two countries have developed close friendship, which is the foundation for the development of bilateral cooperation. “We have a strategic partnership. There are unshakable relations between our states. We are representatives of a huge country - Russia, the Far East, and it is very important for us to develop all areas,” Dmitry Demeshin said.
The industrial sector is of utmost importance. According to the governor, it is very important for Khabarovsk Territory to have as much Belarusian machinery in the region as possible. “There is a lot to learn from you. We are two kin nations, and our partnership and friendly relations have been tested for centuries. The only thing we need is good technical support: centers, logistics, warehouses,” the head of the region added.
The Russian delegation also plans to visit Mogilev Oblast, the region of Belarus which supervises cooperation with Khabarovsk Territory.
